Surrounding Area

Walks:
We are surrounded by outstanding and varied walking countryside. Adjacent to the cottages is the ‘Two Valleys Walk’, following part of the Fowey River, farmland, open moors and forest. Golitha Falls walk is 1 mile from us. There are many other lovely countryside and coastal walks within easy striking distance. Take binoculars and camera to fully appreciate the wildlife.

Water-sports and Fishing:
Practically all forms of water-sports available. Sibleyback lake 2 miles distant, Colliford Lake 5 miles distant (for sailing, windsurfing and canoeing), south and Atlantic coasts 25 & 50 minutes drive away. Sea, lake (coarse and trout fishing) and river fishing all over Cornwall.

Golf Courses:
There are at least 8 courses within a 20 mile radius of Badgers’ Sett, including St. Mellion, a challenging course designed by Jack Nicklaus.

Buildings and places of historical interest:
There are several historical buildings fairly locally, including the National Trust property Lanhydrock House, one of the most frequented beautiful manor houses in Cornwall (approx. 10 miles from the cottages). Ancient monuments include, The Hurlers stone circles, King Doniert’s Stone, Trethevy Quoit. These are within 5 miles of West Draynes.

Gardens:
Many beautiful, ancient and modern gardens can be found within easy distance, including The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project (35 minute drive from cottages).

Shopping:
The very popular Trago Mills is just 10 minutes by car, the cities of Plymouth 40 minutes and Truro 1 hour away.
